Popup/Ad Blocker :
Browsers and Anti-viruses have incorporated Ad-Blocks and Popup-Blocks effectively at the same same time denying ad-generated revenue to the web-site master.
A new script is doing rounds which can be found here . This is a free opensource script for those web-masters who would want their site visitors to view the ads they have been serving. The site is in german, so the reader may utilise the translation services of google click here for translated version.
Though, I wouldnt be going into the pros and cons of Ad-Blocks or Pop-up Blocks or about this script and the debate of should we allow ads or should we not allow ads, but here is a way out for those who would want to view web-sites without the need for viewing the ads, which specifically use this script to block access.
Before the solution is provided, let us take a look at the script . What this script does is to verify whether ad servers are available from the client machine and whether ads would be displayed and based on this, site access is granted or should I say – site is visible.
This whole algorithm relies on client side script and since its a client side script, it can be circumvented by not allowing this script to get executed.
There are a few methods available to disable client side scripts but for non-techies here is a simple solution : deploy no-script and use it . No-Script is available for download at https://noscript.net/
Before deploying and after deploying no-script you may verify the below links and ensure that ad-blocker is enabled in your browser or in your AV.
As long as this script remains a client side script, this method is flawless, but the moment it starts communicating with the server-side then there is nothing much that can done.
And wishing all of you a Safe and eventful 2011.
