We are excited to let you know that eScan Internet Security 11 received the top certification level from Virus Bulletin for its excellent ability to detect malware in infected PCs while providing impressive real-time virus protection!
VB100% certifications are amongst the most widely recognized certifications within the industry. First introduced in 1998, VB100 certification tests focus on virus detection rates, scanning speeds, as well as looking at how each product fares, when scanning set files that are known to be clean. In the October 2010 tests, eScan 11 was tested with a minimum of 1000 replicated samples, representing each variant of the total size from the Wild List set that reached over 14,000 samples—a record in recent years. eScan 11 became a proud winner of another VB100 award with Zero false positives and nothing missed in the Wild List.
The clean set underwent its usual expansion with large swathes of new items added to challenge eScan 11. This being a server test, the new items focused on business software with many packages from the business tools’ section of popular download sites, as well as items from major software houses. The tests included 450,000 individual files and over 100 GB of data. The speed measurement sets remained unchanged from several previous tests. The RAP weekly sets averaged 18,000 samples per week, while the sets of Trojans, Worms, and Botnets were compiled.
In response to eScan 11’s award, Govind Rammurthy, CEO & Managing Director of eScan, said the following:
“This is our 23rd VB100 award since 2003, the year we first participated in the VB100 tests. We won this award for the newly released eScan 11 which uses advanced technologies and is power packed to meet the challenges posed by not only the current generation of malware but also by the next generation ones. This award also showcases the fact that even after having strong detection rates, eScan uses very low resources and does not impact the system performance. The new and advanced eScan 11 is power packed with technologies that can counter the current threat scenario.”
John Hawes, the Editor of Virus Bulletin commented in the report, “We’ve been quite enjoying working with eScan’s latest version in recent tests. It installs quickly and simply, but does need a reboot, and the interface is colourful and fun-packed, with its shimmery Mac-style icon tray and windows that close with a swirling flourish. Under the stylish surface it continues to provide a wealth of fine-tuning controls, presented in a much more sober fashion, making it simple for the more demanding user to find the most detailed options.” He concluded on eScan saying that, “Detection results were also highly impressive across the board, with no problems in the core certification sets, and eScan comfortably earns another VB100 award for its splendid performance.”
