Wi-Fi is one passage point hacking programmers can use to get into your system without setting foot inside your building. Wi-Fi connections are extensively open than wired systems, which implies you must be more active about security. Wi-Fi Alliance has today launched the new WPA3 security protocol which assures more security for individuals and businesses.
The former security standard WPA 2 has been in use since 2004. The new WPA3 protocol has come in with some improved and added security features for the devices connected to the networks.
One of the biggest improvements in the WPA3 protocol is that it fixes a flaw that allowed hackers to guess your Wi-Fi password for as many times as they wanted. This will protect the device from data theft via Wi-Fi access. With WPA3, one will get a single password attempt or physically interact with the Wi-Fi device if the password is incorrect.
Another major feature introduced is Forward secrecy. It is a feature that will keep the device secure from data theft. Regardless of whether the hacker can access your device, it will not be able to access any of your old data.
The Easy to Connect feature will make connecting to a Wi-Fi in an easier manner using QR code. Wi-Fi can be connected to your device by scanning a QR code with your phone. The Wi-Fi accreditations will be consequently sent to the new device at your home.
Your older Wi-Fi router cannot be updated with WPA3. However, the newer router devices will support WPA3’s security features. In the meanwhile, you can either wait for an update to upgrade your older router device or have a new WPA3 enabled Wi-Fi router.
