Google says it coded UIDAI helpline number into your phone
The ‘whodunit’ of the mysterious UIDAI helpline number being saved on Android devices by default finally got some closure late Friday night, with Android’s parent, Google, stating it was at their end that the then helpline number — 1800-300-19 47 — was coded into devices back in 2014 and has remained there since.

Cybercriminals using income tax refund SMS for fraud, here is how to keep yourself safe
Scammers are every day devising a new devious way to trick you. A new cybercrime racket is currently under investigation that involves a fake SMS supposedly from the Income Tax department. The crime was reported a month ago when the deadline for I-T return was nearing. People across the country started receiving these fake messages faking to be from the I-T department.

Ransomware hits Dadar CA’s office, demands payment in bitcoins for decryption
A day after a Navi Mumbai hospital and hotel became targets of a ransomware attack; cyber fraudsters encrypted data belonging to a Dadar-based chartered accountant and demanded money to remove the block on the data on Monday. While the incident took place on Monday, the complainant, realized that his data has been blocked on Tuesday. “A case of ransomware was reported, following which, an FIR has been registered at the Bhoiwada police station,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) N Ambika.

Google Removed 145 Malicious Apps from Google Play Store that Carries Windows Malware
Google removed around 145 apps from the Google Play store that infected with Windows Malware which is not developed to infect the Android platform but for windows OS devices. Removed APK files are infected while developers are creating these apps in compromised windows platform where attackers infect the applications with a Windows-based keylogger.
