Facebook Says Up to 50 Million Accounts Breached by Hackers
Facebook revealed on Friday that up to 50 million accounts were breached by hackers, dealing a blow to the social network’s effort to convince users to trust it with their data. The social network is investigating the extent of harm done when hackers exploited a trio of software flaws to steal “access tokens,” the equivalent of digital keys that enable people to automatically log back into the social network.

California just became the first state with an Internet of Things cybersecurity law
California Governor Jerry Brown has signed a cybersecurity law covering “smart” devices, making California the first state with such a law. The bill, SB-327, was introduced last year and passed the state senate in late August.

WhatsApp ads in Status is already in the works for iOS: report

India will have over 700 million smartphones by 2020: Counterpoint
India will have over 700 million smartphones by 2022, according to data released by research firm Counterpoint, and mid-range phones — phones ranging from Rs 14,000-Rs 29,000 — will play a crucial role in achieving this number. These mid-range phones will grow 20 percent year-on-year in 2018 and by almost four times during the next five years, the research firm said.
