In the first week of June 2011 informatics.nic.in was hacked and a message was posted which claimed that this was the handiwork of Anonymous.
My first perception (based on the language and method used) was that, this is not the work of Anonymous. a pastebin to support this. (12th June 2011)
Hack Disclosure by Indian Anonymous (supposedly): 10th June 2011
https://pastebin.com/csS1WS4M
Hack Disclosure by Pakistan Cyber Combat Squad (PCCS): 10th June 2011
https://pastebin.com/75rfTR79
This seems to be more of a politically motivated hack. The hacker/s preferably wanted to piggy-back on recent Anon euphoria of taking the governments to task or wanted to send the security agencies on a wild goose chase or both.
Corruption in Government organizations is the virtue of this human race and history speaks for itself. We humans have also devised an Index for corruption and have rated countries by this index. But free speech and lulz are in a totally different dimension, every human being on the face of this earth yearns for but very few governments implement it.
The hack disclosure by Indian Anonymous has a more emotional bent and if we look into the previous statements issued by Anonymous makes us realize that those statements and actions were precise and to the point, unlike in this scenario.
When we dig in a little further, and view this hack from a different perspective, any hacker, who hacks opponent country’s servers will always ensure to post a Patriotic or a Defamatory message while defacing the website. Espionage related hacks are the most secretive of all and no hacker / country / organization would ever want to acknowledge the fact that they were a part of the hack (read RSA hacks) nor these hackers would make their presence felt.
Hackers, at the end of the day are human and they are driven by passion, for some it is the passion for free speech (read Anonymous), some for dark humor (read LulzSec), some for monetizing the stolen data and some do it just for reasons best known to them.
When a crime is committed, the intention and the fame and recognition associated with the disclosure rates among the highest.
Over here, we have three different entities 1: PCCS 2: Indian Anon 3: Supposed to be Indian Anon, two of them staking their claims for the hack while the third entity is in denial and accusation mode.
The defacement of the site was definitely not the work of PCCS as it is against the logic of Cyber-warfare. PCCS have an identity for themselves and that identity is their Nationality, had PCCS defaced the servers then they would be driven by their National Pride and recognition among their fellow country-men.
Anonymous like any other entity have their own standards, and theirs is a group psychology, a belief system, and this hack in no way fits into this and this has been aptly explained in the pastebin dated June 12, 2011.
One worrying factor which emerges from this is that, Anonymous needs to structure the PR, otherwise anyone claiming to be Anonymous can create quite a huge mess, after all this is about accountability and credibility.
And the latest Press release (14th June ) – the language conforms that this statement is issued by Anonymous.
It has come to our notice that some of the Indian hackers and there groups are taking the undue advantage of the situation and the name and platform of Anonymous. […]
You targeted organizations and other Indian Government properties to settle your own issues and you used the name Anonymous for personal benefits. By doing all this activities, you have not only hampered the image of Anonymous but you all are responsible for the damage caused to #OpIndia.

[FINAL UPDATE]
The fourth Dimension, bang on target – Anon themselves. Anonymous (AnonExtreme) has issued a statement. Link1 and Link2.
Looking the things happening in India, we got some proof, and to our amusement, It was only a small bunch of groups which are fooling the whole community and wasting people’s time. This elucidative post from me (AnonExtreme), is on the behalf of the whole Anon. Community for fellow Indian people and our fellow Indian hackers. ….
We detest any of your groups and your personal media of information. Please Indian people, help yourself. Judge yourself. Do not waste your further time on either of these two dumbest-on-planet-flamers groups. Their unjustified childish vendetta against fellow Indian hackers and groups is just a cause to seek attention.
